Our History
The original law firm was founded by I. Harry Checchio in 1949, when he opened a law office next to his house at 7022 Torresdale Avenue in Philadelphia to help his neighbors in a wide variety of legal issues. He was assisted by his wife, Camilla, as his paralegal.
Mr. Checchio's son-in-law, James F. Metka, joined the firm in the 1980's, and the two practiced law together out of the same neighborhood office. Continuing in the family tradition of this firm, Mr. Checchio's daughter and Jim's wife, Lennie, joined the firm as the office manager & paralegal, where she still works today. After Mr. Checchio passed away in 2003, Jim continued as the sole neighborhood attorney.
In 2007, Jim's oldest son, Joseph J. Metka, joined the firm as a paralegal. Ultimately in 2010, sixty-one years after the law firm originally started on Torresdale Avenue, the main office was moved to its current location in Bucks County, at 4802 Neshaminy Boulevard in Bensalem. While the move was a difficult decision, it was ultimately done to expand and continue in the family tradition of this law firm. Concurrently with the move, Jim's other son, Harry Metka, joined the firm as an attorney.
In 2014, simultaneous with our 65th anniversary of serving clients across the Delaware Valley, we decided to further expand and accommodate our clients by opening up a second office, located in Chester County.
In 2015, Arlene Glenn Simolike, Esq. merged her neighborhood law practice into Metka Law, which ultimately brought our law firm back to Northeast Philadelphia with our third location at 9223 Frankford Avenue.
Today, we are proud to continue this family-run law office tradition that started over 70 years ago.
